Happy New Year

Well, it’s almost 10 p.m. and it looks like I may be ringing in the New Year at the paper. I may get to leave early, but that’s up to the people writing the stories. Anyway, I usually don’t do resolutions but I’ve decided to try it this year. Here they are so everyone can [...]

It’s official!!

Yea! I’ve been officially moved to features land! There I will enjoy creative freedom, collaberation with writers, photographers and editors and increased feedback. Word has it that I’ll also get more respect and power in the process.
Oh yeah, and the same schedule as my husband.

Avoiding laundry

I’m not one for Internet quizzes, but I love the BBC. As if I needed any conformation, the BBC has informed my that I have a female brain. Also, I very good at remembering where things are placed. Either way it’s interesting, try it out.

We’re all packed up and ready for our annual Christmas tour of Missouri. This weekend we’ll do Hannibal and pick up a new (to us) car for Mike. Mike’s family always does a large family celebration early. Beth has it this year. Cooking for all those folks sounds stressful, but I hope one day Mike [...]

Last minute shopping

Well, I’ve finally wrapped up the Christmas shopping, if not the presents. I guess I was one of those irate shoppers on our front page yesterday. Hannibal

We’ll be in Hannibal for the weekend to see Mike’s little sis earn her bachelor’s degree. I love H-town agendas. We usually hang out, watch a few movies and eat really good food (I believe nobody can cook like mothers). Basically, it’s the perfect lazy weekend. Mike mentioned trying to look at a few car [...]

Roommate flashback

I couldn’t help but think of my first college roommate after reading this post. I’ve lived with lots of wonderful people, but you only need to live with a girl that pees on the couch and then refuses to clean up her own body fluid on the grounds that doing so is “gross” once. Girls [...]

Two things I hate

1. Totalling one of your cars when you just purchased a new one. If anyone needs to know what we want for Christmas, well, it looks like a new vehicle is No. 1 on our list (folks, I’m kidding).
 2. Pants that don’t fit. It seems like ill-fitting pants are all I own.

12 miles an hour

So I’m driving down South Avenue downtown on a busy Saturday night. I come to a complete stop at the 4-way stop at Walnut. As I finish crossing the intersection I look toward some pedrestrians on the sidewalks for two seconds. Then I’m just about to turn my head forward and I hear that sound.
Cryuuuunnchish. [...]
