Ok, so this was big talk at the office. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever do this. I can’t imagine taking my beautiful dress and dragging it through the mud and gunk like that – I’m just way to emotionally attached to the darn thing. There were a few people in favor of it at work based on the same arguements the blog makes, you’ll never wear it again, why not, it’ll come clean, etc. But seriously, what’s with trashing your wedding dress? It’s like wedding photogs needed a new scheme to make money (like the past, present, future diamond anniversary bands debeers was pushing). A few more problems with it – it’s done the day after the wedding, when I didn’t even want to think about anything I had to do that was remotely connected to the wedding. And since it’s done after the wedding, it’s not really a record of the event. Some girls are getting a cheap dress and doing it, which is really isn’t trashing your dress. The other thing that bothers me, is well, some of the style of the photography. But I guess I don’t think most girls need to be on fashion-photography shoots, which is what these are like. I guess I just don’t get it.
Honestly though, I can’t deny that it would be a lot of fun to do. I do think it’s OK to get a throwaway dress and do it for an anniversary (it’s what I recommended to one of my colleauges). It would be a fun way to celebrate and you could relive that small portion of your wedding day without ruining a gown. I just couldn’t imagine doing this!
